When I looked at the different activities from the Final Integrated Projects I realized that they were a lot like the TEAMS approach from the Reiser article. They relied on integrated curriculum and instruction and active learning. I believe that this type of teaching could be extremely effective. It allows your students to learn about different topics all related in different subject matters. It allows your students opportunities to be self-directed, active in their own learning, and able to world independently or cooperatively in small groups. I do think that it would take a lot of extra effort and resources to be able to put something like this together and actually make it effective. If it is not done correctly with the right amount of resources, such as computers, than it might not be a valuable way to teach. Those are just some challenges that you would have to consider. If you did have those things that you needed and had cooperation with teachers in other subject matters I do believe that this could be a very worthwhile way to teach and motivate your students to be excited about learning.Labels: discussions
